A lot of computing power is needed to process complex CAD data models. The components used for this purpose, such as processors, coolers, main memory, graphics cards, etc., are large, heavy and require efficient cooling. The devices (workstations) are therefore only suitable for stationary operation.
In recent years, hardware manufacturers have increasingly brought mobile workstations onto the market. Despite many new developments, these mobile workstations can hardly keep up with conventional workstations. Their weight also speaks against mobile use.
Together with our partner network, we have addressed the need for ever-increasing mobility and developed the virtual CAD workstation for architects and engineers. All employees are provided with a slim notebook. The decisive factor in the selection is the connection options (WLAN, LAN, LTE, Bluetooth). Due to their weight of only 1.7 kg and a 14" display, the devices are ideally suited for mobile work. For stationary use, up to two 4K screens can be connected via a docking station.

A virtual CAD workstation is available to employees for CAD work. The user connects to their virtual CAD workstation and receives full computing power there. Complex work can be carried out as usual and without restrictions - regardless of location. The connection to the virtual CAD workstation can also be established via a 4G or 5G connection.
Depending on the customer's wishes and the software used, we adapt the configuration of the virtual workstation. Such adjustments can be made quickly and easily, for example, even with growing project volumes (increasing amount of data). Virtual CAD workstations for a variety of CAD programmes (e.g. ArchiCAD, Autodesk REVIT, Microstation, Vectorworks, Rhino or Enscape) have been tested and are in operation with our customers.

The requirements for mobility and the associated flexibility will increase steadily in the coming years. We have recognised this and are therefore already working on tomorrow's solutions. Access to the programmes and project data must become easier, more targeted and faster. We are thinking of editing the 3D building model via a tablet or smartphone. The data and information are available at any time, regardless of location.
